Club Philosophy: Walnut Creek Warrior Lacrosse is an instructional program aimed at introducing youngsters to the exciting and fun game of lacrosse. As an instructional program, emphasis will be on learning stick skills, game fundamentals, honoring the game and most of all, having fun.


When does the spring Lacrosse season start?
Preseason begins Februaryl. Regular season is March 1st to mid May. Post season is mid May to weekend following Memorial day.

How much does it cost to play?
Registration Cost:
BOYS (and Girls 4-6th grade) $375.00 - Includes the following: New uniform, US Lacrosse membership, field rentals, referee fees, practice field equipment and administrative costs. Player equipment is NOT included

GIRLS 7-8th grade: $330.00 - Includes US Lacrosse membership, field rentals, referee fees practice field equipment and administrative costs. Uniform and player equipment is NOT included.

Volunteer Buy Out: Add $150.00

Equipment: Boys Comprehensive Starter Package $200.00
Equipment:  Girls Comprehensive Starter Package $  75.00


Club registration refund policy is as follows:
Before November 17, 2007 we will issue a full refund minus $50 administrative fee.
Between November 17 and December 30, 2007 we issue a 50% refund minus $50 administrative fee.
After December 30, 2007 there will be no refunds

Who provides the necessary equipment?
Players are responsible for purchasing their own equipment. The Warriors will offer a package through one of the local lacrosse equipment dealers at a pre-negotiated discount price.

Is Lacrosse a contact sport?

Body checking is allowed for Boys Grade 5 and up. The Boys grades 4 and down and all Girls are allowed some controlled contact as in other sports such as basketball and soccer. All players are allowed to have stick-on-stick checking with different rules for Boys and Girls. Links to lacrosse rules listed below. Warning about the Inherent Dangers of Boys Lacrosse
Student athletes and parents should be aware that Boys Lacrosse, like all sports, will always have inherent dangers. Although rare, death or catastrophic injury can result from participation in this sport, and care should be taken by all concerned to minimize such dangers through the use of appropriate equipment, proper training methods and common sense.

How many times a week will the team practice?
How many games a week?


Depending on the head coach, teams will typically practice 3 times a week pre-season on Saturday, Sunday and 1 weekday for about 2 hours. "A" teams may be 4-5 times a week pre-season. During the season practices are typically held 2 times a week.
Games:
One game per week is the norm, sometimes two. The Warriors participate in Lacrosse tournaments as well. There can be as many as 3-4 games in a single tournament day.

What are the parent obligations and how can I help?

We need volunteers. Parents are required to be involved in whatever way they can. Parent volunteer time averages around 10 hours for the season. Some examples of parent volunteer jobs are; Coaching, team coordinator,  field maintenance, game set up and take down,  score keeping, special events, etc.
I don’t live in Walnut Creek; can my child still play on a Warrior team?

We are limited by the number of coaches available and will do everything we can to place new and out of area players on teams. We welcome players 2rd - 8th grade from Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Clayton, Concord and Martinez.
Is There an End-Of-Season Celebration?

Yes, Memorial Day is the traditional end of season celebration, awards presentations, and NCAA Division I Championship day.
