Greetings Warrior Lacrosse Families:
Happy New Year to you and your family and we hope this message finds you well. Warrior Lacrosse Club is looking forward to turning the page in 2020 with all the challenges that we had to deal with but it has made us prepare for the future. In past years, registration would be closed by now and we would be scheduling games for the upcoming season. It is uncertain what our season will look like, we will plan on starting on March 1 based on what the state and county officials allows us to do a Clinic or Game format structure.
Update
We successfully had over 20 sessions of Fall Ball Clinics for our Boy's and Girl's programs during
the months of October and November. We were able to test our Covid-19 Return-to-Play guidelines for the clinics with no problems.
The structure of the Warrior Lacrosse Club has been revamped. Going forward we will have Co-Presidents, the Girl’s President will be Phil Mannoni and the Boy’s President will be Karl Thomsen. By splitting duties, it will allow each president to focus on the health and safety of the players, and their development.
With the COVID-19 restrictions and changing at a moment’s notice as a club, we have to be fluid. The State of California has tiered Youth Sports into 4 groups based on the Tier status of the county. Girl’s Lacrosse is in Tier 2 (Red) and Boy’s Lacrosse is in Tier 3 (Orange) for contact to happen. To understand all the guidelines for youth sports you can go to Youth Sports in Californiaalso check our website for our return-to-play tier status.
- Here is the current county status:Contra Costa County Status (Purple). We would be in a clinic style format for both genders.
Boy’s and Girl’s Lacrosse Activity: (Clinic) Physical conditioning, practice, skill-building, training that can be conducted outdoors.
- Social distancing – six feet (no contact)
- Stable cohorts of 14 players and two coaches (Players must stay in the same cohort)
- Health Screening and wear a face covering
- No Games
Development vs. Competitive
With the restrictions that have been placed on youth sports. We will be structuring our teams as developmental teams that will allow us to adhere to the guidelines of cohorts. This focus will allow us to emphasize skill and lacrosse IQ development with the plan of playing local teams in our county in a small game format. If play is allowed we will have competitive teams in the 12U and 14U divisions based on the qualification of players and being able to field a team at that level. Below is the format of each of level.
Developmental Teams Boys and Girls
- 8U Level: The team will have up to 8 players. Play 4v4 format with 6-10 games.
- 10U Level: The team will have up to 12 players. Play 6v6 format with 6-10 games.
- 12U Level: The team will have up to 14 players. Play 8v8 format with 8-14 games.
- 14U Level: The team will have up to 14 players. Play 8v8 format with 8-14 games
Competitive Teams Boys (Orange Tier) and Girls (Red Tier)
- 12U Level: The team will have up to 18 players. Regular format play with 8-14 games.
- 14U Level: The team will have up to 18 players. Regular format play with 8-14 games.
Registration
Registration this year will be a $50 non-refundable deposit to secure your player's spot at each level. We will adhere to the max player per team, it will be vital to register as soon as possible. We can’t make any exceptions to add players once teams are full. We still don’t know what the costs will be since we haven’t secured all the field space and how many games we plan on playing once we are allowed to.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.Click the link: WARRIOR LACROSSE REGISTRATION
Cost
Each level is an estimated cost*. We will announce the costs by February 1 or sooner and the remaining balance will be due by February 15th. If payment is not received by March 1styour player will be waitlisted and removed from the team he/she was placed on. This year we have to rent fields from the city of Walnut Creek which are more expensive then Mt Diablo school district (3X more). Due to this uncertainty of field costs this is why we don’t have a final cost yest.
